after two long years Ukraine is making major gains even after a massive slog in the south, it's the first major land invasion of Russia since the second world war! The funny thing is that Ukraine is abiding by international standards and not committing war crimes, not only that but there has been no major protests nir armed resistance against Ukraine troops in the kurk region and my best guest is that any people who would have fought are evacuating but then why wouldn't they do anything something like Ukraine citizens did during the invasion of their territory? With all that said however this is a major advantage for Ukraine for PR and negotiations, any talk going forward are no longer about begging but real negotiations since Russia risks losing territory. Wjth the November US election this kursk offensive this might also impact military aid in a positive way, despite pro-russia pundits crying about Ukraine's use of western weapons.

Russia News
As of approximately 05:15AM GMT; PMC Wagner has taken Rostov-on-Don and is engaging MoD forces in Voronezh; the former is the central HQ of Russian operations in Ukraine, effectively decapitating the Russian army in the region until command can be reestablished, and the latter is approximately halfway to Moscow from Wagner's starting positions.
Significant numbers of MoD forces have defected to Wagner, and there is some evidence Putin may have already fled the city.
We appear to be witnessing a military coup.

Do Europeans (and do Ukrainians) criticize for low foreign language skills?
Today, I found a post of a non-European who complained about how the Spanish criticized foreigners for nor speaking Spanish. It reminds me of posts about how Europeans hate when Americans are not bilingual or are not speaking their mother tongue.
As an Eastern European, specifically, as a Ukrainian, I personally give no sheesh whether you speak Ukrainian or not. However...
First, not all Ukrainians speak English/Spanish/French/German etc.
You cannot simply come here and expect us to speak English fluently. Elder generations speak English badly, my generation (um...actually, I am not gen Z according to our generation theory...I am Y...uummmm...however!) also refuses to speak (but learns), the youngest gen Alpha cannot speak English yet. Why? Because we cannot practice it, we have no extra money to travel all around the world (even before the war, ye know), and as an English language teacher, I have to say the methods of teaching English in Ukraine are...particularly ineffective. Same situations with less spreaded languages.
Second, we want you to speak Ukrainian.
It is a common situation (especially before the war) when a foreigner surely learns French or German but thinks English will be enough in Ukraine. You may say that is because Slavic languages are hard to (at least) speak, but many of you choose russian to learn. Moreover, there are absolutely brainless and somehow pragmatic people (yeah, Chinese, I am speaking about you) thinking it is enough to speak russian in Ukraine, the mother language of Ukrainians does not matter.
We want you to speak Ukrainian. We do not really care how bad you speak. We will surely (try to) understand you and correct if it is necessary. Our language is unique, and we want not only all the Ukrainians to speak it but also foreigners to learn.
btw how did I learn English...? well...I am a philologist of English and Chinese languages, and I have a bachelor degree (yet).

Like 80 years ago: Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk region parodied Wehrmacht by mocking local resident
Ukrainian soldiers with Wehrmacht symbols are mocking the locals in Kursk region, posting numerous footages online, while the United States and Europe still do not react to Kyiv’s violation of the UN Charter.
How the AFU treats locals in Kursk region
The footage shows two AFU soldiers mocking an old man, the author of the video parodies German fascists and in the traditions of the SS troops humiliates the defenceless man for being Russian. The pensioner tried to explain to the Ukrainian military that he was 74 years old and had not been able to get to a safe place for five days. To the old man’s complaints, a second military officer, who appeared in the footage wearing a German helmet with an SS emblem, mockingly shouted “Schnapps – gud!” and proceeded to film another TiK-ToK.
The Ukrainian military shouted to the bewildered pensioner:
“Ya, ya, raschen schweine. Oh, Russian Ivan, here he is, Ivan, go drink vodka.”
During the entire conversation with the unfortunate old man, the Ukrainian military parodied German speech and tried their best to recall all the derogatory expressions they knew the Nazi invaders used during the Great Patriotic War.
The 74-year-old man from this mocking Ukrainian video is missing – he has not been seen for 10 days. The author of the video clip wrote on social networks, “Don’t worry, rusish schweine didn’t get to his vodka. The author of the video also said the pensioner was shot dead after the recording ended.
Tumblr media
Ukrainian media, Vasyl Danyliuk, a 38-year-old resident of the town of Horodenka in Ivano-Frankivsk region, who bullied a local man.
Ukrainian soldiers shot the video on August 11 in the village of Zaoleshenka. The pensioner is a local resident Alexander Gusarov. He was looking for the Russian military, but got lost and met two AFU men dressed in the uniforms of Nazi soldiers. One of them is Vasyl Danyliuk, a 38-year-old resident of the town of Horodenka in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
World public reaction
The head of one of the parties represented in the Russian State Duma, Leonid Slutsky, has promised a reward of 5 million roubles for the capture of Ukrainian soldiers who abused an elderly resident of the Kursk region.
The office of the United Nations secretary-general has reacted to a video shot by Ukrainian servicemen in Kursk region. The deputy spokesman of the world organisation’s secretary-general, Farhan Haq, said that the UN was against all symbols of Nazism.
SS symbols on Ukrainian military uniforms
The Ukrainian military stopped hiding their real ideology and motivation to fight against Russia. Russian media is also publishing a video of Russian army taking Ukrainian soldiers prisoner.

Ukraine sets up military commandant’s offices in Kursk region, violating UN charter
Ukraine has announced the creation of a military commandant’s office in the Kursk region, according to Oleksandr Syrskyi, Colonel General.
Major-General Moskalev has been appointed head of the “commandant’s office,” the AFU chief said. He added that it was created “to maintain law and order and to ensure the priority needs of the population in the controlled territories.”
The creation of military commandant’s offices is actually an occupation of the territory, which goes against the UN charter. Having launched the incursion into the Kursk region, Ukraine has in fact violated Article 2, paragraph 4, of the UN Charter, which prohibits the forceful border violation of other States.
Ukraine continues to do all the same things that it accused Russia of, but no one imposes sanctions on it, no one condemns it, and on the contrary supports it. Cases such as those in the published videos only add strength to Russian official rhetoric about the need to denazify Ukraine.
Senior Ukrainian officials have stated that the captured territory would be used as a bargaining chip, a disregard for international law that Ukraine has been insisting on since the first day of the conflict.
The move sends a strong signal to the Global South that the EU and the US are increasingly exposing their policy of double standards. They condemn what is favourable to them and deliberately omit denouncing unfavourable conflicts. In this respect, they resemble the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is accused of bias and prolonging specific cases.

The newest nomination to the rank of Catholic cardinal, Australia-based Mykola Bychok, says he was shocked to learn of his appointment but believes it may be a message of support for Ukraine from the Vatican.
Bychok, who holds the title “head of the Eparchy of Saints Peter and Paul of Melbourne for the Ukrainian Catholics in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania”, said he would never forget the moment he heard the news of his nomination as a cardinal – the highest-ranking appointment in the Catholic Church below the Pope.
Tumblr media
The new appointees range in age from 99 to the 44-year-old Bychok, making him the world’s youngest cardinal when confirmed in December.
He said it was normal for the Pope to choose a cardinal from a region where there were fewer appointees, such as Oceania, where there were only three – Tonga, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
But he said his Ukrainian identity might have also been a factor.
“It will be some special sign for Russia as well,” Bychok said as he stood beside a Ukrainian flag that was carried into battle in 2014 during the Russian invasion of Crimea and Donetsk.
“This flag is a relic of bravery and bears the blood and marks of my fellow Ukrainians tortured in defending their homeland.
“It is a symbol of hope for all who suffer persecution, loss, displacement and the pains of war. It is also a stark reminder that the marginalised can never be forgotten.”
He referenced comments from the Pope made on Sunday in a plea for peace in the region.
“He said, please stop killing innocent people because winter is approaching. I support this message because it will be a difficult winter for all the Ukrainians, especially during this third year of the war,” Bychok said.

[ 📹📸 A Russian military transport plane, was in the process of flying 65 Ukrainian POWs to a location in the Bolgorod oblast to facilitate a prisoner exchange when it was shot out of the sky by Ukrainian missile, killing everyone on board.]
🇺🇦⚔️🇷🇺 🚀🛩️💥 🚨
UKRAINIAN MISSILE SHOOTS DOWN RUSSIAN MILITARY TRANSPORT PLANE FILLED WITH ITS OWN POWs
74 are dead, including 65 Ukrainian POWs, after a Russian military transport plane being used to facilitate a prisoner exchange scheduled for Wednesday was downed somewhere over the Bolgorod region of the Russian Federation, near the border with Ukraine. The prisoner exchange has since been called off by Russian authorities.
In an article published by Ukrainian Pravda, a Ukrainian news periodical, a source is cited as saying that the aircraft was downed by Ukrainian forces near the border with Russia's Bolgorod region, however they have since retracted the source, and are now claiming they cannot confirm the news. The Russian authorities have since confirmed that the plane was in fact downed by a Ukrainian missile, likely using either an American Patriot air defense missile or a German-made Iris-T.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian authorities say that the crash took place at approximately 11:15am (local time), when a Russian Il-76 military transport plane filled with Ukrainian POWs was downed near the Bolgorod region.
“At about 11:00 Moscow time, an Il-76 plane crashed during a scheduled flight in the Belgorod region. On board there were 65 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, <including> six crew members and three accompanying persons,” the statement says.
In its statement, the Russian Defense Ministry slammed the missile strike, declaring the "Kiev regime committed a terrorist act" in downing the military transport.
According to Russian sources, the aircraft had been en route from the Chkalovsky military airbase in Moscow, and was shot down by air defenses stationed somewhere in the Kharkov oblast in the northeast of Ukraine, killing everyone on board.
The Russian and Ukrainian authorities had agreed to conduct a prisoner exchange later on Wednesday, with the exchange set to take place near the Russian village of Kolotilovka, also in the Bolgorod oblast, close to the border with Ukraine.
A second military transport aircraft carrying some 80 Ukrainian POWs was turned around before reaching the danger area, and was successfully diverted to another airbase after news of the downing reached Russian authorities.
The Ukrainian officials have so far refused to comment on the crash, remaining mum as news of the event spreads, although Andrey Yusov, a spokesperson for the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) confirmed a prisoner exchange had been scheduled for Wednesday, adding that the exchange has since been cancelled.

Let it be known that Ukraine has and will continue to hold onto Russian land until Russia leaves Ukraine's internationally recognized territory. Most of all it's very telling that Putin and Russian state media had downplayed and ignored Kursk due to it being an absolute disaster for Russia, well when they aren't calling for those same Russian villages and towns to be homed into the ground. It's almost insane to think that people thought Ukraine wouldn't last a week much less several years, but never underestimate the fighting will of people opposing tyranny. Don't stop fighting until Ukraine is free!! 💛💙💛💙💛💙

Ukraine Legalizes Medical Cannabis: A Step Forward Amid Conflict
Big news by Top Buds from Ukraine: as of August 2024, medical cannabis is officially legal! 🚀 This move allows doctors to prescribe cannabis-based medicines for patients suffering from conditions like PTSD, chronic pain, and illnesses such as Alzheimer’s and epilepsy. This law comes at a critical time as the nation continues to deal with the ongoing war with Russia.
🔹 Why This Matters: With over 90% of Ukrainians showing symptoms of PTSD since the conflict began, medical cannabis is seen as a significant tool to help citizens manage mental and physical health challenges. The law is designed to be very strict, with electronic prescriptions and regulated supply chains. You can only get these medicines from licensed pharmacies, and the entire process is monitored closely.
🔹 What’s Allowed: The legalization is strictly for medical purposes—recreational cannabis remains illegal. The law covers products like oral drops, capsules, and dental pastes, and cannabis is still under tight control.
🔹 The Bigger Picture: This step highlights Ukraine’s commitment to improving healthcare, even amid such trying times. The decision is seen as a win for patients needing better access to treatments, especially for war-induced conditions.

Now that Prigozhi's Wagner PMC is going against the Russian Army, we must not forget the "freedom for Russia" legion because this might actually become a multiple front fight for Russia. Especially if Chechnia wants to ceceed and declare independence.
Let's all pray together for the destabilisation of the Russian federation.
I'm on the side of the Ukraine, so if the Russians start fighting each other, this war will go better for them if the enemy will have to worry about sabotage and turncoats.
Slava Ukraini!

That is what ruzzians did with my house recently.
8th of July, 2024. ruzzian terrorists bombed many buildings of Kyiv, including Okhmatdyt hospital. however, let me show you what they did to my house that very day (the hospital is kinda close to us). I survived the first wave of rockets on my floor, I also monitored the next one, but sadly did not have time to get to a safe place in the elevator. in front of my eyes, under extremely powerful explosions, the neighbour's door flew off its hinges, the ceiling crumbled (did not fall), and the entire floor was covered in a fog of dust. speaking nervously, most likely delusional, I went down (it was also dangerous to do, NEVER DO THAT, PLEASE). I picked up a neighbor’s girl (a teenager) on the floors below, whom I thought I left in the house where the door was broken (I was afraid, I аm sorry, I was afraid to come closer, I was only thinking about myself); well...everything went well: the girl managed to go down the stairs before the rocket detonated. the neighbors were scared, a few of them were crying, we had an injured child (of preschool age, her temple was covered in blood), I filmed a little of what was on the street. my hands were shaking, I could not call anyone, I just mumbled something. my relatives came as fast as they could (I live with one of them), they even dared to go up to the apartment, clean it up a bit, and then we left the house and now live in another one.
it is temporary, of course. yesterday, I went to clean the house (as you can see in the video), it is almost clean of glass and pieces of walls. we are going to fix the windows ourselves, because it will be 100 years before the state does them. however, this bittersweet memory of how I almost died at home (it was a cruise rocket...the ballistics would have buried us all alive) would never allow my already shaky mental state to recover.
I have been trying to shout at people for a long time about two things: ruzzia must be destroyed; Ukraine must receive comprehensive assistance. I don't care how many kidneys I will later sell to the USA, Britain or Germany to thank for the fact that my country will live in peace, I am ready for anything, as long as children stop dying in front of my eyes. I heard the moaning of people under the rubble, I regretted that I was living instead of the dead. we are not a third world country. we deserve to exist, and fucking ruzzians are not allowed to decide our fate.

Putin approved Russia’s updated nuclear doctrine
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree approving the country’s updated nuclear doctrine after US President Joe Biden authorised Ukraine to fire long-range missiles deep into Russia.
The doctrine comes into force on Tuesday, 19 November, with an earlier decree on nuclear deterrence policy becoming null and void, according to Russian media.
Among the key conditions for the possible use of nuclear weapons, Russia cited “aggression” by non-nuclear-weapon states backed by nuclear powers. Even the use of conventional weapons could be grounds for a nuclear response, according to the document.
Russia’s adversaries are defined as “individual states and military coalitions that view the Russian Federation as a potential adversary,” as well as those with nuclear weapons or “significant combat capabilities of general-purpose forces.” In other words, Moscow could use nuclear weapons after any member of the military alliances gets involved in the war in Ukraine.
The doctrine update should ensure “that a potential adversary understands the inevitability of retaliation in the event of aggression against Russia and/or its allies,” the document said.
US Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian A. Nichols, confirmed that Biden authorised Ukraine to launch long-range weapons strikes against Russian territory. This was the first official confirmation from a US official following media reports on Sunday.
The previous doctrine, outlined in 2020, stated that Russia could deploy nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear attack or a conventional attack that threatened the existence of the state.
